Ambassador of Thailand to Spain paid an official visit to Cadiz

During 6-8 September 2022, H.E. Mrs. Phantipha Iamsudha Ekarohit, Ambassador of Thailand to Spain, accompanied by Mr. Pongprach Makchang, Minister, and Mr. Pakorn Kumpornlua, First Secretary, paid an official visit to Cadiz. The purpose of the visit was to meet with major company executives in the area, as well as to observe and gain insights into their business operations.

1) On 7 September 2022, the Ambassador and her delegation paid a study visit to Indorama Ventures Quimica, where they were received by Mr. Luis C. Rodrigo, Plant Manager. Indorama is a Thai company that has, since 2016, invested in producing petrochemical and plastic products in Spain. The company's products include Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET), Purified Isopthalic Acid (PIA), Purified Terephthalic Acid (PTA), Ethylene oxide and synthetic fibers. These products are sold in Spain and the majority of Europe. In this regard, the Ambassador extended her interest in the current operations of the company and exchanged views on the investment situation in Spain, as well as the investment prospects of the company in the future.

2) On 8 September 2022, the Ambassador and her delegation paid a study visit to the Cadiz shipyard of Navantia, a state-owned company that designs and constructs military and civilian vessels. The delegation was received by Mr. José Antonio Rodríguez Poch, Director of Navantia´s Bahia de Cadiz shipyard, who gave a presentation on the current business operations of the company. Navantia (originally Empresa Nacional Bazan) constructed the HTMS Chakri Naruebet battleship for the Royal Thai Navy in 1997 and has cooperation with the Royal Thai Army in the procurement as well as the reparation and maintenance of armaments.
