During 14-17 January 2026, the Royal Thai Embassy in Madrid facilitated the participation of Mr. Pattana Promphat, Minister of Public Health, and his delegation attending the Global Caregiver Forum organized by UNICEF and the World Health Organization in Madrid.
On this occasion the Minister of Public Health shared Thailand's experience on "Caregiving and Parenting as the Critical Protective Factor in the Life of Every Child".
He indicates that bringing up a child in a warm and non-violent environment is the most powerful factor that promotes development in the child and reduces cross-generational mental health challenges. For Thailand, there are 3 levels of goals: (1) At the policy level, Thailand promotes a strategy for creating a 'Gentle Society'; (2) At the service level, Thailand aims to increase access to evidence-based childcare services and ensure that it is inclusive ; and (3) At the technical level, Thailand encourages all adults surrounding the child in developing skills and knowledge in the psychology of parenting.
