On 22 June 2023, H.E. Mr. Vosita Vorasaph, Ambassador of Thailand to Spain, and Mr. Pakorn Kumpornlua, First Secretary, along with Ambassadors/representatives of ASEAN Embassies in Spain traveled to Barcelona and visited the operations of the Port Authority of Barcelona. They had a meeting with Mr. Lluís Salvadó, President of the Port Authority of Barcelona and high-level executives of the Port. Both sides had a discussion on ways to enhance cooperation on trade and shipping of goods between the ports of Barcelona and ASEAN member countries.

In 2022, the Port of Barcelona imported approximately 71,276,92 tons of goods from Thailand, which was equivalent to more than 25% of the total weight of goods from Thailand to Spain.
