On 13 September 2018, the ASEAN Committee in Madrid (ACM), comprising of Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam, organized ASEAN Business Forum in Valencia in collaboration with the Chamber of Commerce of Valencia. The activity aimed at creating awareness of ASEAN economic potentials among Spanish private sectors as well as promoting trade and investment relations between the ASEAN and Spain. More than 70 representatives from private sectors, especially in Valencia and nearby cities, participated in the Business Forum.
At this first ASEAN Business Forum in Valencia, representatives of the ACM presented business opportunities in their respective economies to the interested public, held business matching with the Valencian private sectors. During the networking reception, after the seminar, all participants also enjoyed delicious ASEAN cuisine.
The ACM also paid joint courtesy calls on Mr. Joan Ribo, Mayor of Valencia, Mr. Jose Vicente Morata, President of the Chamber of Commerce of Valencia, and Mr. Aurelio Martinez, President of the Port Authority of Valencia. The joint courtesy calls serve as a platform for the ACM and the Valencian authorities to discuss on the further strengthening of relations between ASEAN countries and the Valencian business community, especially in terms of trade and investment. The ACM also had the opportunity to visit the Port of Valencia which is one of the most important sea ports of Spain.
