On 20 February 2015, the Royal Thai Embassy in Madrid organized a seminar titled“ Thailand: Key Market in Asia” at the Madrid Chamber of Commerce to provide comprehensive information on Thailand’s new investment policy, trade and investment opportunities, and Thailand’s potential as gateway to ASEAN. The seminar was attended by around 90 representatives from the Spanish public, private and academic sectors, as well as the media.

Mr. Carlos Prieto, General Manager, Madrid Chamber of Commerce gave an overview of Thailand’s economic potentials. This was followed by remarks by H.E. Mrs. Busaya Mathelin, Ambassador of Thailand providing an update on Thailand’s political situation, key economic policies to increase competitiveness, as well as Thailand’s potential as gateway to ASEAN.

Ms. Duangjai Asawachintachit, Deputy Secretary-General, Board of  Investment  of Thailand  and  Mr. Prakhan Kordumrong, Director of Thai Trade Centre in Madrid, gave presentations on ‘Thailand: Gateway to ASEAN’ and Trade Opportunities in Thailand for Spanish Companies’ respectively. Mr. Iñigo de Palacio España, Senior Vice President for International Relations, INDRA was also invited to share the company’s business experience in Thailand.

One-on-one meetings between Spanish businessmen and the Thai speakers were also arranged for further consultation on business opportunities in Thailand.
