On 5 June 2568, the Royal Thai Embassy in Madrid co-organized the 3rd Thailand-Spain Forum, with Thailand as the host, at Narathip Auditorium, Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Ms. Supamas Yunyasit, Minister-Counselor of the Royal Thai Embassy, represented the Embassy at the event.
On this occasion, H.E. Ms. Eksiri Pintaruchi, Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, and H.E. Mr. Luis Fonseca Sánchez, Director General for North America, Eastern Europe, Asia, and the Pacific of the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union, and Cooperation, had the honor of delivering the opening remarks. They were joined by Ms. Thitiporn Chirasawadi, Director of Devawongse Varopakarn Institute of Foreign Affairs, and Mr. Jose Pintor Aguilar, Director General of Casa Asia, in welcoming the participants. Additionally, Dr. Anuson Chinvanno, Director of the International Studies Centre of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, also participated in the panel discussion.
The theme of this event was "Opportunities and Challenges," with seminar topics including 1) Climate Change: A Human Security Dimension, 2) Circular Economy: Upcycling and Recycling, and 3) The Future of Sustainable Development: The Role of Community and Youth. Participants came from various sectors, including government agencies, the private sector, universities, schools, the media, and representatives from foreign embassies in Thailand.
During the event, there was an exhibition showcasing Thai and Spanish projects and initiatives promoting sustainability, including 1) the "Turning Waste into Merit" project of Wat Chak Daeng in Samut Prakan Province, 2) the upcycling project of R.X. Group, 3) CHAAUM Studio, and 4) Hormesa (Thailand) Co., Ltd. (a Spanish company in Thailand).
Additionally, the Royal Thai Embassy took the Spanish delegation to visit Wat Arun as a cultural activity.
The Thailand-Spain Forum is a framework for academic and civil society cooperation between Thailand and Spain, established in 2022. Devawongse Varopakarn Institute of Foreign Affairs, International Studies Centre, and Casa Asia of Spain are partners in organizing the activities, with the Royal Thai Embassy in Madrid and the Embassy of Spain in Thailand serving as supporting agencies.
