On 12 September 2019, the Royal Thai Embassy joins hand with the Spanish Embassy in Thailand and Lal Labuya Association in Spain, organized Fashion Show for the three finalists in the Thai – Spanish Fashion Award at the Royal Thai Embassy in Madrid.  The event was attended by 260 members of the Spanish Government, diplomatic corps, and private sectors, as well as members of the Spanish fashion society.  The winner of the competition was Mr. David Decalle, who will be designing the Thai silk for the Spanish delegation for the 19^th edition of the Thai Silk Road to the World event in Bangkok in November 2019.

During the event, the Royal Thai Embassy received cooperation from the Department of Sericulture of Thailand in bringing the Thai Look to participate in the Fashion Show as well bringing Thai silks to exhibition in the event.  Ms. Siriporn Boonchoo, Director General of the Sericulture Department, led the delegation from the said department to the event to promote the uniqueness of the Thai silk. 

The Royal Thai Embassy attaches importance to the promotion of Thai silk in Spain.  For the past year, the Embassy has organized several events on Thai silk, namely the Silk Exhibition in Valencia, the support for Spanish designer, Maria Lafuente, to use Thai silk in her collection, and ultimately this Thai silk design competition. The aim of the projects is to introduce Thai silk to Spanish and hope that the Spanish fashion society will use more Thai silk in their design.
