On 6 October 2021, H.E. Mrs. Phantipha Iamsudha Ekarohit, Ambassador of Thailand to Spain and Mr. Miguel Gomez Prado, CEO of Logista Pharma S.A. witnessed the transportation of 614,500 doses of Astra Zeneca vaccines that the Government of Spain resold to Thailand as requested by the Royal Thai Government, at cost price which is lower than the price that Thailand has bought directly from the producing company.

385 boxes of vaccines have been transported by a company selected by the Department of Disease Control of Thailand. They will arrive Bangkok via Frankfurt on 9 October 2021 and will be inoculated to Thailand’s population in mid October 2021. All vaccines are packed in temperature-controlled boxes at 2-8 degrees Celsius throughout the transportation.

The purchase of Astra Zeneca vaccines from Spain is a success story of cooperation between Thai, Spanish and EU authorities, namely, 1) Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, 2) Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation of Spain, 3) Ministry of Public Health of Thailand, 4) Ministry of Health of Spain, 5) Royal Thai Embassy in Madrid, 6) Embassy of Spain in Bangkok, and 7) Royal Thai Embassy in Stockholm which helps coordinate with the EU Vaccine Coordinating Steering Board for the resell request of Thailand for vaccines from EU member countries to support Thailand´s vaccination plan for the last trimester of this year.
