On April 18, 2026, the Royal Thai Embassy in Madrid conducted the third milestone of its Thai Gastronomy Week, under the project aimed at promoting the popularity of Thai cuisine in Spain and Andorra. The event featured a Thai cooking demonstration held in collaboration with Siam Shiki restaurant in Andorra la Vella, Andorra.

At the event, Mr. Kamol Chobdee-ngam (Chef Gigg), winner of Iron Chef Thailand 2015 and owner of Lerdtip and Phed Mark restaurants, demonstrated three signature Thai dishes: Beef Pad Krapow (Stir-fried Basil), Choo Chee Pla (Fish in Red Curry Sauce), and Tom Kha Gai (Chicken in Coconut Soup). The opening remarks were delivered by Ms. Supamas Yunyasit, Chargé d'Affaires, to an audience of over 80 guests, including high-level representatives from the public and private sectors, as well as Andorran media.

Thai cuisine has enjoyed consistent popularity in Andorra, particularly among locals and international tourists, with a growing trend toward further expansion. Currently, Andorra is home to one restaurant certified with the Thai SELECT seal of approval: Siam Shiki.

The project to promote Thai culinary popularity in Spain and Andorra consisted of three key activities:

  • April 13, 2026: At the Thai Pavilion, organized by the Office of Commercial Affairs in Madrid, during the 39th Salon Gourmets.
  • April 16, 2026: In collaboration with the Basque Culinary Center in San Sebastián.
  • April 18, 2026: In collaboration with Siam Shiki Thai restaurant in Andorra.
The Royal Thai Embassy in Madrid initiated this project in alignment with the Thai government's policy to promote Thai Food Soft Power. This strategy leverages modern agriculture and food innovation to drive the national economy, utilizing Thai culinary culture—which possesses immense export value—to propel Thailand toward becoming a global food hub.
