On February 20, 2026, Ms. Supamas Yunyasit, Chargé d'affaires a.i. of the Royal Thai Embassy in Madrid , attended the presentation ceremony of Spain's strategy for the Asia-Pacific region for the years 2026–2029 at the Casa Asia office in Barcelona. The event was presided over by Mr. Jose Manuel Albares, Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union, and Cooperation of the Kingdom of Spain, and attended by ambassadors and representatives from 15 Asia-Pacific (ASPAC) member countries.

In his speech, Foreign Minister Albares mentioned about the importance of the Asia-Pacific region in terms of economy, politics, international security, and culture to Spain's foreign policy. The strategy for Asia-Pacific aims primarily to promote partnership and cooperation, based on mutual respect and prosperity, with countries in the region with a view to addressing major global challenges of the modern day, as well as to helping to preserve and promote the values upheld by Spain and the European Union. This includes a particular focus on multilateralism, peace, international law, and human rights principles. As part of Spain's foreign Policy Strategy, which has been officially announced previously, the strategy plan for Asia-Pacific will be expedited through clearly defined implementation guidelines and the outcome will be monitored closely by the inter-ministerial committee of the Government of Spain. Furthermore, it emphasizes the role of the Casa Asia institution in creating connections and serving as a tool to enhance Spanish presence in the region and cooperation of Spain with countries in the Asia-Pacific region.

Foreign Minister Albares admired the significant progress of cooperation with Asian countries including Thailand for the upcoming Thailand-Spain Forum and Political-Consultation to be held in June 2026 and praised Thailand as example for her most progressive countries in Asia in promoting LGBTQ rights and gender equality.
