On 6 July 2026, Ms. Supamas Yunyasit, Chargé d’Affaires a.i. of the Royal Thai Embassy in Madrid, welcomed Assistant Professor Dr. Pornpan Piriyasurawong, Lecturer in the Spanish Programme, Faculty of Humanities, Kasetsart University, who represented Assistant Professor Dr. Thongrob Ruenbanthoeng, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities, Kasetsart University, during a courtesy call and discussion at the Embassy.

 

Both sides exchanged views on promoting educational and cultural cooperation between Thailand and Spain, including the possibility of establishing academic cooperation agreements between Kasetsart University and higher education institutions in Spain, supporting Spanish language education and student exchanges, as well as future internship opportunities for students of the Spanish Programme at the Embassy. The Embassy also expressed its readiness to facilitate contacts and coordinate with relevant institutions and stakeholders in Spain to help advance these initiatives and further strengthen educational and cultural cooperation between Thailand and Spain.

 

The Faculty of Humanities, Kasetsart University, launched its Bachelor of Arts Programme in Western Languages, majoring in Spanish, in the 2025 academic year. The programme aims to equip students with Spanish language proficiency and a deeper understanding of the language, culture, and societies of the Spanish-speaking world, thereby supporting Thailand's expanding cooperation with Spanish-speaking countries in various fields
