On 8 August 2023, the ASEAN Committee in Madrid (consisting of the Embassies of Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand and Viet Nam) held an ASEAN flag-raising ceremony and reception on the occasion of the 56th anniversary of the establishment of ASEAN at the Royal Thai Embassy. H.E. Mr. Akmal Che Mustafa, Ambassador of Malaysia, as the rotating Chair of the ACM presided over the ceremony which included invited guests consisting of the Ambassadors of Japan, Pakistan and New Zealand, representatives from the Embassies of Australia, China, the Republic of Korea and India, as well as representatives from the Spanish private sector and the Spanish media whom also attended the event.
