On 8 August 2022, H.E. Mrs. Phantipha Iamsudha Ekarohit, Ambassador of Thailand to Spain, attended the flag-hoisting ceremony to commemorate the 55th anniversary of ASEAN, held at the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Spain. In attendance were the ambassadors and representatives of the ASEAN Member States in Spain, diplomatic corps, representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation of Spain, the Spanish public and private sectors, as well as the Spanish media.

ASEAN Member States with respective Embassies in Spain consists of 5 countries - Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, and Viet Nam. From June-December 2022, the Ambassador of Indonesia to Spain is the current Chair of the ASEAN Committee in Madrid (ACM).
