On 7 February 2019, Ms. Natenapa Kongsri, Chargé d’Affaires, a.i., Royal Thai Embassy in Madrid, took part in the opening ceremony of Trade and Investment Opportunities in ASEAN Seminar. The representative of the Royal Thai Embassy talked about economic opportunities and important developments in ASEAN Community that Spanish business persons could take advantage of. In this regards, she invited Spanish private sector to explore business opportunities in ASEAN.

At the same event, Ms. Triyaporn Boonsiriya, Director of Office of Commercial Affairs, and Ms. Cherdchang Arunrat, Director of BOI (Paris Office) gave a briefing about Thailand-Spain trade and investment relations with emphasis on the incentives that Spanish private sector will enjoy when they invest in Thailand.

The Trade and Investment Opportunities in ASEAN Seminar was organized by Spanish Chemical Industry Business Federation, within the framework of Impulso Exterior Fair in Madrid. It was aimed at exploring and further strengthening trade and investment relations between ASEAN and Spanish private sectors, particularly those involve in chemical industry.

During January and November 2018, ASEAN-Spain trade in goods totaled 11.4 billion Euros, being organic chemical products one of the top ten Spanish exports to ASEAN. In the case of Thailand, last year its bilateral trade with Spain valued 1,693.50 million Euros. Thailand exported 963.19 million Euros to Spain and imported 730.30 million Euros from the European country, being chemical products the second largest Spanish import to the Thai market.
