On 8 August 2018, H.E. Mrs. Rattikul Chansuriya, Ambassador of Thailand to Spain, as the Chairperson of the ASEAN Committee in Madrid (ACM), hosted the ASEAN Day ceremony at the Residence of Thailand. Around 70 participants joined the celebration, including members of ASEAN Embassies in Madrid (Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Vietnam and Thailand), diplomatic corps, representatives from Spanish public and private sectors.

At the ceremony, Thai Ambassador to Spain gave a remarks on ASEAN Day, emphasising the successful development of ASEAN, since its establishment in 1967, which has turned the regional grouping into the 6^th largest economy in the world. In addition, Ambassador of Thailand highlighted the role of the ACM in promoting ASEAN – Spain relations as well as ASEAN visibility through various activities; such as, ASEAN Business Forum in important Spanish cities, ASEAN University Fair and ASEAN Talk.

The participants also celebrated the ASEAN Day with flag hoisting ceremony and reception.
