On 8 January 2016, Ms. Rommanee Kananurak, Minister of the Royal Thai Embassy in Madrid paid a courtesy call  on   Mrs. Manuela Carmena Castrillo, Mayor of Madrid at the Madrid City Hall in order to exchange views on the promotion of  cooperation between Thailand and the City Council of Madrid.   Both sides had a discussion on the proposal  to establish sister cities relations between the City Council of Madrid and the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration, which is put forwarded by  M.R. Sukhumbhand Paribatra, Governor of Bangkok.
