On 4 March 2020, the ASEAN Committee in Madrid paid a courtesy call on Ms. Cristina Gallach, Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, and for Ibero-America and the Caribbean, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation of Spain. At the meeting, both sides discussed on ways to  strengthen the relations between ASEAN and Spain, particularly on the trade and investment dimension.
Ms. Natenapa Kongsri, Chargé d’affaires, a.i., of the Royal Thai Embassy in Madrid stressed the importance of 2020 which is the year of 150th anniversary of diplomatic relations. The Thai diplomat also pointed out the economic opportunities for Spanish business sectors in Thailand and the recent establishment of the Spanish-Thai Chamber of Commerce which will play a significant role in enhancing Thai-Spanish economic relations.
