On 5 August 2021, the ASEAN Committee in Madrid (Embassies of Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand and Viet Nam) organized a flag raising ceremony and reception to celebrate the 54th Anniversary of the foundation of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN -actual anniversary date 8 August) at the Thai Residence. Diplomatic corps as well as representatives of Spanish private sectors and media attended the ceremony.

H.E. Mr. Philippe J. Lhuillier, Ambassador of the Philippines, in the capacity of the current Chair of the ACM, presided over the ceremony. The ACM also took this opportunity to launch “El Sabor de la Gastronomia de ASEAN en España” (A Taste of ASEAN Gastronomy in Spain), a cookbook, jointly published by the ACM´s member countries to promote their cultures among the Spanish public, through gastronomy.
