On 2 March 2023, Mr. Pongprach Makchang, Chargé d'affaires a.i. of the Royal Thai Embassy in Madrid, together with officials and staff of the Royal Thai Embassy, attended a reception on the occasion of the Royal Thai Armed Forces Day (January 18), organized by the Office of the Naval Attaché of the Royal Thai Embassy, at the Residencia Militar El Alcazar.
On this occasion, the Chargé d'affaires a.i. delivered a welcoming remarks and congratulated on the cordial relations between Thailand and Spain in the field of security and military. He also expressed hope that the two sides will further advance cooperation in areas, such as high-level visits, professional exchanges, military training, maintenance and logistics cooperation, as well as technology transfer and investment in the defence industry, in which Spain has expertise. In addition, the Chargé d'affaires a.i. also invited the Spanish side to consider cooperation with Thailand in multilateral frameworks on issues of mutual interest, such as cyber security, counter terrorism, maritime security, and human trafficking.
Subsequently, Capt. Chonlapoo Choosri, Defence and Naval Attaché gave a remarks on the history of the Royal Thai Armed Forces Day and an overview of military relations between Thai and Spain armed forces, followed by a video presentation about the roles and missions of the Royal Thai Armed Forces.
The event was attended by senior officers from the Spanish Ministry of Defence and armed forces, foreign defence attachés, as well as representatives from the Spanish private sectors.
