On 12 April 2567, H.E. Mr. Vosita Vorasaph, Ambassador of Thailand to Spain, presided over the Songkran Festival 2024 at the Nicolás Salmerón Cultural Center in Madrid. This event was organized by the Thai Ruamjai Association Madrid and attended by approximately 150 participants, including the Thai communities in Madrid and other cities, families, Spanish government officials, diplomats, and local media.

During the event, various cultural activities were organized to celebrate the traditional Thai New Year, known as Songkran Festival. The festival was inscribed on the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity Representative List in 2023. The activities included a water-pouring ceremony for the Buddha image and for the Ambassador and Ms. Yolanda Estrada Madrid, the President of the Chamartín District Council. There were also traditional Thai dances, a Muay Thai demonstration, a Thai fabric fashion show, followed by a reception provided by Thai restaurants in Madrid. The guests also had the chance to enjoy Thai massage and visit Thai product booths, as well as participate in a lucky draw for Thai gifts.
