On 4 December 2025, Ms. Supamas Yunyasit, Chargé d’affaires, a.i., of the Royal Thai Embassy in Madrid presided over a reception held to commemorate the National Day of the Kingdom of Thailand, the Birthday Anniversary of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great, and Thailand’s Father’s Day, which falls on 5 December. The event took place at Albeniz Room of the InterContinental Madrid Hotel, attended by representatives from Spanish public and private sectors, members of the diplomatic corps, local media, as well as Thai residents in Spain and their families.
On this occasion, the Chargé d’affaires, a.i. invited the distinguished guests to observe a moment of silence in remembrance of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, The Queen Mother. She then delivered a speech reflecting on the royal contributions of His Majesty the Late King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great, highlighting the relevant developments of the relations between Thailand and Spain over the past year, and inviting Spanish private sector to invest more in Thailand, as the gateway to the ASEAN region. On the same occasion, she also invited the guests to wish for the happiness and good health of His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua as well as of His Majesty King Felipe VI of Spain, and the mutual prosperity and the long lasting friendship of the peoples of both kingdoms.
The event also featured an activity in honour of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother’s contribution to the traditional Thai costume, known as ‘Chud Thai’, where AI was used to show photos of participants wearing Thai costumes. The activity was very well received by attendees.
‘Chud Thai: Knowledge, Craftsmanship and Practices of the National Costume of Thailand’ is currently being proposed for the UNESCO’s consideration to be inscribed on the Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) list.
