On 29 March - 3 April 2024, the Royal Thai Embassy in Madrid in collaboration with the Faculty of Veterinary Science, Prince of Songkla University, brought experts from Oceanografic of Spain, consisting of Mr. Jose Luis Crespo Picazo, Head of Conservation Program, Ms. Claire Alden Siemone, Research Associate, and Ms. Monica Valls Torres, Veterinarian, to travel to Thailand to enhance cooperation with the Faculty of Veterinary Science, as well as to organize a workshop to share and exchange knowledge and experience in life-saving methods, and diagnosing and treatment of rare sea animals. Related agencies of Thailand consisted of Marine and Coastal Resources Research Center (Upper Andaman Sea), Sireetarn Marine Endangered Animals Rescue Center, Phuket and Sea Turtle Conservation Center, Phang-nga.
 
This project builds on the Thailand-Spain project between the Royal Thai Embassy in Madrid and the Faculty of Veterinary Science, Prince of Songkla University on ocean governance and conservation of aquatic species, which started in 2022. The objective of the project seeks to bring the knowledge and expertise from Spain in marine life conservation to further develop the capacity of the personnel and agencies of Thailand, as well as to strengthen Thailand to become the research hub in this field in the ASEAN region in the future.
