On 24 February 2026, Ms. Supamas Yunyasit, Chargé d’Affaires, attended the Pre-ITB 2026 Phuket Roadshow to Madrid, organized by the Phuket Tourist Association in cooperation with the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), Rome Office. The event aimed to promote and market tourism products and services from Phuket Province. Activities included a Market Briefing for Thai tourism operators, as well as a Phuket Product Update for local Spanish tourism operators. Business matching sessions and networking opportunities were also arranged during the Networking Dinner, which included a lucky draw for participants.
On this occasion, the Chargé d’Affaires delivered welcoming remarks at the Networking Dinner, emphasizing that Thailand and Phuket continue to be outstanding tourist destinations and important regional gateways. They offer diverse tourism options ranging from nature, health and wellness, and cultural experiences to their role as a world-class MICE destination. This year, TAT is promoting the concept of “Value over Volume,” aiming to create meaningful travel experiences through Thailand’s strengths in gastronomy, fashion, culture, spirituality, and festivals, alongside sustainable tourism. All stakeholders are encouraged to help translate this concept into tangible outcomes. In this regard, the Thai Government has facilitated visa procedures through the 5-year Destination Thailand Visa for retirees, digital nomads, and highly skilled professionals. Spanish nationals also continue to benefit from the 60-day visa exemption scheme.
According to tourism statistics in 2025, Thailand welcomed a total of 32.9 million international visitors. Although the majority of arrivals are from from the Asia–Pacific region, the number of Spanish tourists traveling to Thailand reached a record high for the second consecutive year at 216,249 visitors, representing a 4.11% increase from the previous year.
