Strengthening Network of Thais in Spain
During the 4-5 July 2022, the Royal Thai Embassy in Madrid organized a networking meeting, chaired by H.E. Mrs. Phantipha Iamsudha EKAROHIT, Ambassador of Thailand to Spain, and attended by 13 representatives of Thai associations/communities from cities in Spain, including Madrid, Barcelona, Tenerife, Malaga, Valencia, Ibiza and Soria.
On this occasion, the Embassy invited respected speakers from and outside of Spain to share knowledge and experience on different topics, as follows:
(1) Buddhist teachings by Phra Wimol Satsanawited, Abbot of Wat Thai Norway and President of the Union of Thai Sanghas in Europe
(2) Lecture on “Mental health care for Thai People Residing Abroad” by Dr. Terdsak Detkong, Director of the Bureau of Mental Health Academic Affairs, Ministry of Public Health (Psychiatrist Advisory Level)
(3) Lecture on “The Roles of Thai Community Leaders Abroad” by Mr. Naruchai Ninnad, Protection of Thai Nationals Abroad Division, Department of Consular Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs
(4) Lecture on “Experiences in Strengthening Networks of Thais Abroad” by Ms. Panithane Tabourel, President of Association Solidarité Thaï en France
(5) Lecture on “Thai Select Certification for Thai Restaurants Abroad” by Ms. Vichada Pabunjertkit, Director of the Office of Commercial Affairs, Royal Thai Embassy in Madrid
(6) Lecture on “Channels for Receiving Information Related to Thais Abroad” by Mr. Supachoke Yensuang, Counsellor, Department of Information, Ministry of Foreign Affairs
On this occasion, the representatives of Thai communities exchanged views on ways to improve the works and activities of Thai communities in Spain and discussed potential events and activities for future collaboration.
The networking event of the representatives of the Thai communities in Spain is an initiative of the Royal Thai Embassy in Madrid to promote the networking of Thais in all parts of Spain. The purpose of the event is to strengthen the relationship, create a network, and provide up-to-date information necessary for the wellbeing of Thais in Spain for the participants to further disseminate to their respective communities.
