Ambassador of Thailand to Spain participated in a seminar titled “Female Diplomacy: a necessary voice. Achievements and Challenges”

     On 7 July 2022, H.E. Mrs. Phantipha Iamsudha Ekarohit, Ambassador of Thailand to Spain, together with Ambassadors of Tunisia, Finland, Guatemala, and Senegal, as female ambassadors representatives several continents, participated in a seminar and discussion titled “Diplomacia femenina: una voz necesaria. Logros y retos” (Female Diplomacy: a necessary voice. Achievements and Challenges)” by the invitation of Mr. José María Álvarez de Eulate y Peñaranda, FESEI’s President at the Foundation for Strategic and International Studies (FESEI), at FESEI in Pozuelo de Alarcón (Madrid). There were 30 participants attending the seminar both physically and virtually.

     On this occasion, the ambassador shared her experience working as a female diplomat and ambassador, provided information on the current situation and progress in promoting women’s rights in Thailand, and highlighted the situation and advancement of women in Thailand, achievements made and remaining challenges. The Ambassador also talked about her direct contribution to the advancement of women and law changes to promote women’s rights in Thailand during the time when she was responsible for human rights when working at the Permanent Mission of Thailand to the United Nations in Geneva and also when returning back to the Ministry afterwards. She stressed the importance of the contribution of women in the development of Thailand in all dimensions and which is a policy that the Thai government attaches great importance to. Finally, she also underlined that women’s equal participation and more women in leadership positions is essential for every country because women’s contribution would lead to better decision-making on important issues, cognitive diversity and powerful new perspectives that are beneficial to the sustainable development of the country.
