Ambassador of Thailand to Spain paid a courtesy call on Secretary General for Defence Policy, Ministry of Defence of Spain

On 11 May 2021, H.E. Mrs. Phantipha Iamsudha Ekarohit, Ambassador of Thailand to Spain, paid a courtesy call on Admiral Juan F. Martínez Núñez, Secretary General for Defence Policy, Ministry of Defence of Spain, upon her assumption of duty. Mr. Pongprach Makchang, Minister, Captain Boriboon Emtip, Naval Attaché, Ms. Prapasri Chetsonkcul, Counsellor, Major General Alfonso Garcia-Vaquero, Advisor of the Secretary General´s Office and Lieutenant Colonel Vicente Diaz de Vallegas, Advisor to the Secretary General on Diplomacy Defence, were also present.

At the meeting, both sides expressed congratulations on the longstanding and cordial relations between Thailand and Spain in the field of defence, particularly in terms of academic cooperation, logistics support, and defence industry. In addition, both sides agreed to promote the exchange of visits between the high authorities of Thailand and Spain´s Ministries of Defence and commanders-in-chief. Moreover, current regional situation and the strengthening of security cooperation between ASEAN and the European Union, especially in the field of maritime security, which is an important issue of interest for both countries, were also discussed.
