On 22 February 2023, Mr. Pongrach Makchang, Chargé d ´affaires, a.i. Royal Thai Embassy in Madrid, with Ambassadors of Malaysia, the Philippines, Indonesia, and Viet Nam, representing the ASEAN Committee in Madrid (ACM), paid a courtesy call on Mr. Jose Luis Martinez-Almeida, Mayor of the City Council of Madrid, and high-level executives of the City Council of Madrid. The call was aimed to enhance relations and explore cooperation between the ACM and the City Council of Madrid.
On this occasion, the Chargé d ´affaires, a.i. expressed gratitude to the Mayor and the City Council of Madrid for the facilitation and good care of the Thai community in Madrid, which is around 200 persons. He reiterated the importance the Thai government gives to strengthening the Thai community in Spain to live together harmoniously with the locals, as well as contributing to the development of the economy of the city in which they are residing. The Chargé d ´affaires, a.i. also wishes for the City Council of Madrid to consider facilitating the requests of businesses that are seeking to bring in Thai chefs and masseurs from Thailand. This will not only further support the numerous Thai restaraunts and Thai massage spas in Madrid, considered culturally unique businesses, where many Spanish and foreign tourists that travel to Madrid enjoy, but will also enrich the overall economy of Madrid as well.
