On 13 May 2021, H.E. Mrs. Phantipha Iamsudha Ekarohit, Ambassador of Thailand to Spain, met with Ms. Maria Paz Ramos Resa, Director-General of International Trade and Investments, Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism of Spain. Ms. Triyaporn Boonsiriya, Minister Counsellor (Commercial), Office of Commercial Affairs in Madrid, Ms. Prapasri Chetsonkcul, Counsellor and Ms. Veronica Samper, Deputy Director-General for Asia, Non-EU Europe and Oceania were also present.

At the meeting, both sides discussed on how to intensify the trade and investment activities between Thailand and Spain as well as the updates of the Thailand-EU Free Trade Agreement negotiations. The Thai Ambassador also took the opportunity to invite the Spanish side to participate in a seminar, focusing on the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), to be held in the second part of this year by the ASEAN Committee in Madrid. The seminar aims at creating the awareness of business opportunities in doing trade and investment with ASEAN countries among Spanish public and private sectors.
