Ambassador of Thailand to Spain discussed ways to enhance cooperation in STI with Director General of CDTI

On 18 July 2022, H.E. Mrs. Phantipha Iamsudha EKAROHIT, Ambassador of Thailand to Spain had a meeting with Mr. Javier Ponce Martinez, Director General of the Centre for the Development of Industrial Technology (CDTI) of Spain. Mr. Pakorn Kumpornlua , First Secretary, and Mr. Carlos de la Cruz Molina, Director for Evaluation and Cooperation Technology, also attended the meeting.
 
H.E. Ambassador and Mr. Ponce discussed ways to enhance cooperation in science, technology and innovation (STI) between Thailand and Spain. In this regard, H.E. Ambassador reiterated Thailand's interest in deepening the STI cooperation in areas of Thai expertise such as precision medicine, renewable energy, biotechnology and functional food among others. Meanwhile, CDTI informed of its plan to bring a delegation of public and private representatives from the STI sector of Spain to organise a forum at the end of 2022 to explore increased potential cooperation and business opportunities in STI between Thailand and Spain.
 
CDTI is a public business entity of Spain responsible for channeling funding for research and development in STI, as well as expanding Spain's STI cooperation with the world. CDTI has close relationships and cooperation with various public and private STI sectors of Thailand, such as Thailand Centre of Excellence for Life Science (TCELS), Thailand Institute of Scientific and Technological Research (TISTR), and National Science and Technology Development Agency.
