On Thursday 20th September 2018, the Royal Thai Embassy presented  “Sailing through the Thai Culture” as part of the inauguration of the Exhibition Asia y el Museo Naval by the Minister of Defense of Spain, H.E. Ms. Margarita Robles Fernandez.

The exhibition, supported by several agencies including the Royal Thai Embassy, highlights naval relations between Spain and countries in Asia, namely Thailand, China, Japan and Vietnam, etc.  It narrates significant visits and exploration of Spanish envoys and naval officers.  The Naval Museum, since its opening 175 ago, has been acquiring objects from Asia, forming a unique collection and knowledge about the region.  The event also highlights the 300 years’ anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Friendship and Navigation between Thailand and Spain, which took place in 1718.

“Sailing through the Thai Culture” brought all the guests to touch and appreciate Thai traditional dance and Thai music performed by the Royal Thai Navy Orchestra Band.  Guests also enjoyed authentic Thai dishes namely Phad Thai, Som Tam, Todman , traditional Thai dessert and Thai Singha beer.   The Royal Thai Embassy would like to thank S. Colomer Casas Company for supporting  Singha Beer, and Mahou San Miguel Company for supporting Solan drink and Mahou beer at the opening ceremony.

The Royal Thai Navy and the Spanish Navy have long enjoyed very cordial relations.  There has been regular exchange of visits.  This event is another move that reflects the good will to enhance the relations between the two sides even further.
