Minister of Tourism and Sports attends FITUR 2015 in Madrid

Mrs. Kobkarn Wattanavrangkul, Minister of Tourism and Sports of Thailand paid a visit to the Kingdom of Spain during 28-31 January 2015 to attend FITUR 2015 (Feria International de Turismo) in Madrid, which is Spain’s largest international tourism fair and the third largest in Europe.  During the visit, the Minister had fruitful meetings with Spain’s high ranking officials, namely H.E. Mrs. Isabel Borrego, Secretary of State for Tourism, H.E. Mr. Ignacio Ybáñez, Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, as well as H.E. Mr. Taleb Rifai, Secretary-General of UNWTO to discuss ways to promote tourism cooperation between Thailand and Spain.

On 29 January 2015, the Minister made a presentation on the 2015 Discover Thainess campaign in a Networking Lunch organised by Tourism Authority of Thailand aiming at promoting Thai tourism in Spain, in which 40 Spanish tour operators participated. She also attended a roundtable discussion organised by Casa Asia and Madrid Destino and attended by approximately 20 representatives from public and private sectors, where she made a presentation on Thailand’s economy and tourism, as well as business and investment opportunities in Thailand in areas such as renewable energy and tourism related sectors including hotel business, infrastructure, sports and medical tourism, and water management, in which Spain has expertise.

On 29 January 2015, H.E. Mrs. Busaya Mathelin, Ambassador of Thailand to Spain, hosted a dinner in honour of the Minister, in which officials of Team Thailand were also invited.
