     On 7 June 2022, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation of Spain hosted the Fourth Meeting of Thailand-Spain Political Consultation, which was co-chaired by H.E. Mr. Javier Salido Ortiz, Director General for North America, Eastern Europe, Asia and Pacific, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation of Spain and H.E. Mr. Asi Mamanee, Director General of European Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand with representatives of the Embassy also attending.

     At the meeting, both delegations shared information on developments of Thailand-Spain cooperation since the Third Meeting of Political Consultation three years ago. Additionally, both sides exchanged views on issues of common interest in bilateral and multilateral spheres, paving ways towards the increasing dynamism of cooperation in political, economic, social, cultural,  scientific and innovation dimensions.

     During the visit to Spain, on 8 June 2022, the Thai delegation also visited Casa Asia, Madrid Office, and was received by Mr. Javier Parrondo, Director of Casa Asia and, H.E. Mr. Emilio de Miguel Calabia, Ambassador in Special Mission for Indo-Pacific and Director of Casa Asia, Madrid Office.

     On the same day, H.E. Mrs. Phantipha Iamsudha Ekarohit, Ambassador of Thailand to Spain, hosted a dinner in honour of the Thai and Spanish delegations to the Fourth Meeting of Political Consultation. At the dinner, H.E. Mr. Felipe de la Morena Casado, Ambassador of Spain to Thailand, Mr. Gerardo Fueyo, Deputy Director General for Pacific, Southeast Asia and the Philippines, Directorate General for North America, Eastern Europe, Asia and Pacific of Spain, Executives of Casa Asia, Heads of Offices of Team Thailand in Madrid and officers of the Royal Thai Embassy in Madrid were also present. 

     The Political Consultation is a mechanism at the governmental level that serves as a platform for the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Thailand and Spain to push forward cooperation and exchange opinions on issues of mutual interest. The Fifth Meeting is expected to be held in Thailand next year.
